Thai protesters storm ASEAN summit

(00:32) Rough Cut

Apr 11 - Anti-government "red shirt" protestors breach security and swarm into the media centre where a summit of Asian leaders was underway.

The East Asia Summit brings together the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand for discussions about trade, economic issues and regional security.

Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has declared a state of emergency and the summit delayed.

The situation is a huge embarrassment for the government, which came to power in December via parliamentary defections the opposition says were engineered by the military.
