“‘I’ve accomplished my goals’ - Lia Thomas wishes to transition back to male after feeling 'guilt'. But first he should give the award back he stole from a woman!!!,” reads a tweet sharing the claim (here).
The claim was circulated on Facebook as well (here), (here).
Reuters did not find any credible reporting that suggests Thomas ever made such a public statement.
The comments attributed to Thomas originated from a satirical website called Patriot Party Press (here). The website’s “About Us” page states that it is a “subsidiary of the ‘America’s Last Line of Defense’ network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery, or as Snopes called it before they lost their war on satire: Junk News.”
Thomas’ representatives did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for a comment.
