222 million-euros. That's the sum French soccer club Paris St Germain wants to pay to recruit Barcelona striker Neymar. But the record-breaking deal has been hit by a last-minute stoppage at the hands of Spain's national soccer league. Lawyers representing the player held talks with La Liga on Thursday (August 3) to try to settle the transfer and pay the huge break clause. But a source from the Spanish league said the body had rejected the payment. La Liga President Javier Tebas has previously warned the deal could be blocked. He says it might breach financial fair play rules set by European soccer governing body UEFA. Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp another to cry foul. SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH) LIVERPOOL COACH JUERGEN KLOPP, SAYING: "There are two clubs in the world that can afford to pay that much - maybe three if you count Barcelona, if they don't need the money for something else - and they are Man City and PSG. Everybody knows why that is. I always thought financial fair play was invented to make sure something like that can't happen." Worries too that other transfer fees could be pushed up. Manchester United's Jose Mourinho says the fee for Neymar - considered one of the best players in the world - is fair. But, he said, it could mean players of lesser quality being sold for larger sums of money. Neymar's lawyers gave no comment as they left La Liga on Thursday (August 3), but Spain's Marca newspaper says they will now turn to world soccer's governing body, FIFA, to request a provisional transfer. The French club's deal for Neymar is more than double the previous record set by Paul Pogba's move to Manchester United last year. While Neymar's $650,0000-a-week salary would earn him more than a dollar every second, 24 hours a day. In the time it has taken you to watch this video, he would have earned $130.
