Thousands of cat lovers gathered in California Sunday for the third annual CatCon convention. Furry costumes, and cat-themed outfits were the order of the day at the celebration of all things feline. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SUSAN MICHALS, CREATOR OF CATCON, SAYING: "One of the reasons that I started CatCon was that there is no equivalent to the dog park in real life for cat people." This cat may look normal but in fact she's a celebrity called Nala Cat -- with 3.4 million followers on Instagram. Even at a pet convention, American politics were never far off. And the biggest cat fans could even get their paws on a pair of moving cat ears. (SOUNDBITE) (English) STEPHANIE HAIBLOOM, CATCON ATTENDEE, SAYING: "People have been, like, 'oh my God, your ears are moving, that's so cool, where did you get them?' Instead of, you know, you walk out on the street like that and people are like, 'what's wrong with you, what's your diagnosis?'" The Pasadena Humane Society had dozens of furry friends on hand for adoption. 150 cats and kittens found new homes over the two days of CatCon.
