ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. Fraser Mann from Scotland won the World Hickory Open Golf Championship on Wednesday (October 4) playing on the links course at Kilspindie Golf Club in Scotland. 57-year-old Fraser became champion of this year's annual competition which celebrates the history of the game. Hickory Golf is a version of golf which is played with original or pre-1936 replica hickory shafted clubs. Most of the entrants play dressed in traditional early 20th century costume sporting a thin leather bag slung over their shoulder. The championship started in 2005, when a small group of players gathered on the historic Old Course at Musselburgh for a friendly competition. 120 players from around the globe entered this year's tournament. Mann scored 71 on the first day (October 3) and 70 on the final day (October 4). Last year's winner was Sandy Lyle from Scotland, who has also won the Masters Champ. The next World Hickory Open Golf Championship will be held in Scotland October 2018.
